Benevolent Ministry Update
On Sunday, November 26, we announced some changes to our Benevolent Offering which we had been collecting every 3rd Sunday.
Beginning in January 2018, benevolence will be part of our yearly budget. We will still be helping those in need in our community and at Bay Park. But, we will be helping them out of our regular budget as opposed to an add-on budget which we have been doing until now. So, beginning in January 2018, we will no longer be collecting a Benevolent Offering. Our assumption will be that when people give their regular offering each Sunday, they will incorporate what they would normally give to benevolent into their regular weekly offering.
Benevolence (being kind, well meaning and altruistic) is not an add-on at Bay Park. Benevolence is part of our everyday mission (preparing fully devoted followers of Christ – Matthew 28:16-20) and vision (to boldly engage our community and communities). As such, benevolence is part of what we do at Bay Park. Just like our mission, nursery, salaries, hydro etc are part of what we do at Bay Park.
It is at this time of the year that we think of our givings for 2018. We would ask that as you plan your givings for 2018, please consider that benevolence is not a separate offering taken, but will now be part of general offering and contribute accordingly. Thanks.
If you are currently giving using the Pre-Authorized Debit method, please know that you can change the amount at any time, simply send Esther Young an email (email@example.com) or email the church office. Pre-Authorized Debit forms are available at the Welcome Desk for you to use to set up a new account or make any changes to your current offering. Givings can also be done through Canada Helps and those amounts may be changed anytime and are self-directed.
Benevolent requests will continue to be made to Alix Martin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As 2017 comes to a close, we want to thank you for being a part of our Bay Park community and supporting it with your time and offering.
Thanks and have a very Merry Christmas.
